this collection celebrates ten years of Old Maiden Aunt Yarns and features contributions from Rachel Coopey, Felicity Ford, Bristol Ivy, Kirsten Kapur, Anna Maltz, Clara Parkes, Lorna Reid, and Ysolda Teague.
the Inchgarvie shawl by Ysolda Teague uses one skein of Old Maiden Aunt Shetland 2ply laceweight to create a lightweight, large shawl. knitted mainly in garter stitch with sections of feather & fan and a knitted-on edging, this shawl combines traditional elements with a contemporary design.
the Bounnet hat by Anna Maltz uses a mini-skein pack of Old Maiden Aunt superwash merino 4ply to create a unique colourwork hat. although the hat uses five colours, only two are ever in use at a time with a third colour being slipped to create a densely textured knit with a quirky play on traditional colourwork.
the St. Andrews shawl by Kirsten Kapur uses two colours of Old Maiden Aunt superwash merino/cashmere/nylon 4ply and combines lace patterning, two-colour feather & fan, and tiny cables to create a beautifully intricate shawl with gorgeous drape.
the Wild Mountain Time mitts by Felicity Ford use four colours of Old Maiden Aunt shetland 4ply to create a vivid, modern interpretation of a traditional colourwork mitt. the stylised floral design works well in many different colour combinations.
the Blashy socks by Rachel Coopey use one skein of Old Maiden Aunt superwash merino/nylon/stellina to create a pair of cable and lace socks whose asymmetrical patterning swirls down the leg and over the foot.
